A Fellowship is a personal award rather than an award for a research project. Information on the EPSRC Fellowship scheme is on their website. The RSE Fellowships are a new type of Fellowship that funds the development of software that will be used for research rather than the research itself. The distinction may seem small but it has had a significant consequence, resulting in a lack of long term sustainable research software. There have been 2 calls so far and I was funded in the second call and started in February 2018.
